retroperitoneal necrotizing soft tissue infection in a healthy adult masquerading as acute pancreatitis

چکیده
necrotizing soft tissue infections (nstis) are polymicrobial infections with high morbidity and mortality. we report a case of retroperitoneal nsti in an immunocompetent young male, with clinical symptoms and signs mimicking acute pancreatitis (pseudo-cullen’s and pseudo-grey-turner’s signs). the initiating lesion was a pustule which progressed and mimicked acute pancreatitis. ct scan showed features of retroperitoneal nsti. after extensive debridement and antibiotics, patient improved. nsti of the retroperitoneum is rare. the absence of external clinical signs and anatomical barriers make the disease difficult to manage.

متن کاملMinimally invasive retroperitoneal necrosectomy in management of acute necrotizing pancreatitis
INTRODUCTION One of the most important requirements in treatment of acute necrotizing pancreatitis is minimized invasion. AIM We are presenting experience in treatment of acute necrotizing pancreatitis by an original minimally invasive retroperitoneal necrosectomy technique, comparing our results to other studies, evaluating feasibility and safety, discussing advantages and disadvantages of t...
متن کاملFamilial hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute necrotizing pancreatitis: A case report
Acutepancreatitis can infrequently be a life-threatening complication of hypertriglyceridemia. Rarely, hypertriglyceridemia can originate from an inborn genetic error in lipoproteins metabolism. This condition can be manifested by very high serum triglyceride levels (>1000 mg/dl) and a more severe and lethal form of pancreatitis. Here, we present a case of acute pancreatic which was found out t...
متن کاملRetroperitoneal Necrotizing Fasciitis Masquerading as Perianal Abscess – Rare and Perilous
Necrotizing fasciitis is one of the uncommon presentations of a rapidly spreading subcutaneous tissue infection. Although the actual cause is unclear in many cases, most of them are due to the rapid proliferation of microorganisms. Retroperitoneal necrotizing fasciitis is extremely rare. It is a potentially lethal infection that requires immediate and aggressive surgical care. Early diagnosis i...
متن کاملNecrotizing soft-tissue infection: diagnosis and management.
Necrotizing soft-tissue infections (NSTIs) are highly lethal. They are frequent enough that general and specialty physicians will likely have to be involved with the management of at least 1 patient with NSTI during their practice, but they are infrequent enough that familiarity with the disease will seldom be achieved. Establishing the diagnosis of NSTI can be the main challenge in treating pa...
